Wayne Swinny dead: Saliva guitarist dies from spontaneous brain haemorrhage aged 59

Wayne Swinny, who was the guitarist for rock band Saliva, has sadly died from a brain haemorrhage aged 59. The star was the only member of the group’s original lineup and was still on tour when the tragedy occurred.

Wayne was supposed to perform onstage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, but was instead taken to hospital when he was found in “medical distress”.

Once the musician reached the hospital, he was diagnosed with a “spontaneous brain haemorrhage” and sent straight to intensive care, but the star died later that day, reports People.

Wayne’s bandmates confirmed the news of his death in a sad shared statement yesterday evening.

The band wrote: “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our brother Wayne Swinny.

“Wayne passed away this afternoon from a Spontaneous brain haemorrhage while we were out on tour.

“Details for the funeral arrangements will be announced shortly,” the statement continued.

“Wayne will be missed by all those who knew him. We love you, Wayne.”

The guitarist was Saliva’s last original band member, after bassist Dave Novotny left the band in 2015.

Before that, vocalist Josey Scott left the band in 2011, with Bobby Amuru taking his place.

Bobby issued a heartbreaking statement about his late bandmate to Loudwire, saying: “I’m not even sure what to think or how to feel right now.

“My heart aches for Wayne’s family, his friends, and anyone who had the joy of being around him.

“My heart aches for his daughter Nikki,” he continued. “He loved that little girl so much.

“He was a Guitar Hero onstage with all the Rock ‘N’ Roll swag that most guitar players dream of.

“Offstage he was a proud father, an Ancient Aliens expert, and an incredible human who had zero enemies!

“He would go out of his way to make sure you had a good time,” he added.

“I’m grateful that I got to share almost 12 years of my life with Wayne on the stage and, most importantly, off the stage.

“He was the older brother I never had. I learned so much from him, and we had a f*****g blast together!

“I will cherish it all for the rest of my life! God Bless you, Wayne. I know we’ll meet again!”

The band Saliva started back in 1996 after first forming in Memphis and evolving over the years.

The group rose to prominence in  2001 with their album Every Six Seconds and their last music release came in November when they put out new single, High on Me.
